Ran away from home because of his family's obsession with the Plymouth Brethren.1
He began as a decorators mate until he was old enough to join HMS Gannges at Shotley as a boy.
He served on the submarines based out of Harwich during WW1 which is how he came to settle here.
In 1928 he was a Seaman
In 1938/39 worked as a seaman for Trinity House
In 1948 worked for Tirinity House as a Lightsman
In 1962 he was Retired |
