In May 1885 he achieved a1st class certificate in the Elementary stage of Machine Construction & 2nd Class ordinary Grade Pass MEchanical Engineering-City & Guilds in May 1888. He lived at1 Westbourne Villas Paddington in 1888. On 9th March 1891 at Zetland Lodge Malta was initiated into Freemasons & in 1891 was admitted as a Royal Arch Mason in Malta whilst serving as an ER Articifer 2on HMS Humber. 4 Was still an ERA on HMS Humber when married in 1891.3 Became a Royal Ark Mariner in April 1892 & advanced to Mark Master. A letter from the United Grand Lodge of Freemasons confirms this & also that he was a joining member of Ebrington Lodge East Stonehouse, Devon on 28th January 1894. He lived at 6 Eastnor Place. yet by 31st May 1894 had moved to 3 Eton Terrace where Charles Mark was born. On May 8th 1900 was excluded for non payment of fees. This could have coincided with the inheritance that allowed him to become a missionary. In 1894 he was an Engine Room Artificer for the Royal Navy. In 1901 was Chief Engine Room Artificer & lived at 46 Beresford Rd. North End,Portsmouth. Later joined the White Star Line. In1928 he was a Warrant Engineer according to Charles & Eva's marriage certificate but was in fact already dead. Became a missionary after being left money by his father, died very young in 1914. Robin has a photo from this time of Eliza ,Lita,Ted, Grace in what appears to be mourning clothes.Left his family pretty poorly off. Were occassionally helped out by Sidney. Allegedly caught something in West Africa whilst a missionary. Possibly lived in Leece near Barrow-in-Furness before Liverpool. At the time of his death was living in Liverpool. Joined Plymouth Brethren & resigned his commission??? Met Eliza Hawkins in Malta | |||||||||||||||||
